With over 15 years of professional experience in the horse industry, Allison has spent much of this time specializing in the riding school facet. In 1999 she received her instructor certification and in 2001 her Equine Canada certification as a Coach 1 (now competition coach). She is currently working towards a specialization field within her certification. Allison also attended the University of Guelph where she received her BSc honours in Animal Biology specializing in behavior and nutrition.
Although Allison’s focus within the school is Hunter/Jumper, her teaching curriculum covers all aspects of the English riding disciplines. She firmly believes that a solid riding education come from an understanding of all riding techniques. She has taught at all levels from ages 5 to 50+ . To her, safety is paramount and students are expected to master basic riding abilities before they progress to more complicated exercises. Her lessons include level appropriate exercises in Hunter/jumper, Dressage, Cross-country, and mounted games
Something that Allison has noticed throughout her time coaching is that a coach not only fills the role of teacher but also of mentor and sometimes confidant. She takes these roles very seriously and encourages parents to keep this in mind when choosing a coach for any sport.
Bluemoon Riding Centre is the culmination of many years of hard work for Allison and she is proud to provide her Bluemoon family with a safe, fun and educational riding environment.
